Furthermore Program Offers Grants in Nonfiction Publishing
An initiative of the J.M. Kaplan Fund, the Furthermore program supports nonfiction book publishing about the urban experience; natural and historic resources; art, architecture, and design; cultural history; and civil liberties and other public issues. Deadline: September 15, and March 15, Annually
Reader's Digest Foundation RFP
The Reader's Digest Foundation has announced that it will donate a total of $1 million to nonprofit organizations through a new initiative called "Make it Matter." Grants will be inspired by individuals who are taking action and giving back to their communities in significant ways. Every month, the foundation will select one individual's story of good deeds done and grant $100,000 to a nonprofit organization in honor of that individual. Reader's Digest magazine will then feature that person in its new column, "Make it Matter." Deadline: Rolling
Seeds for Education Grant Program Invites Applications
Wild Ones is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the use of natural landscaping with native plant species as an ecologically better alternative to traditional landscaping practices. Schools, nature centers, and other nonprofit and not-for-profit places of learning (including houses of worship) with a site available for this stewardship project may apply. Deadline: November 15, 2008.
Water Quality Funding Programs Fiscal Year 2010 Workshops
The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) invites you to participate in public workshops during September 2008. Ecology staff will discuss and help you with the water quality loan and grant application process for state fiscal year 2010 (FY 2010). This workshop also includes two concurrent afternoon breakout sessions to provide specific technical assistance for nonpoint activity projects and facility projects. Deadline to register: August 29, 2008. Deadline for funding: October 31, 2008.
William C. Kenney Watershed Protection Foundation
Funds specific projects that either provide an opportunity to change western water policy on a local, state, or national level; defend environmental laws critical for the protection of all western rivers; or focus on a specific strategy for protection of a biologically important western watershed.
