New Program Areas

The Bullitt Foundation announces updated program areas. Where once the Foundation endeavored to cover the full range of environmental issues in the Pacific Northwest, it now will concentrate on urban issues, business and technology, ecosystem services and planning, and civic engagement.

The Bullitt Foundation has revised its program areas. 

Where once the Foundation endeavored to cover the full range of environmental issues in the Pacific Northwest, it now will concentrate on urban issues, business and technology, ecosystem services and planning, and civic engagement.

The Bullitt Foundation carries out its work through four complementary programs. Three of these programs address issues and opportunities within the built environment, natural environment, and the private sector. A fourth seeks to create strong public and political support for actions to advance the Foundation’s mission. The Foundation strongly encourages projects or campaigns that lie at the intersection of these programs:

Ecosystem Services

Program Objective:  We will restore and protect the ability of northwest ecosystems to sustain healthy, vibrant human communities and a sound economy.

Energy, Industry, and Technology

Program Objective: We will promote policies and actions to harness the entrepreneurial power of business to create competitive industries built on ecological principles and sustainable technologies.

Program Objective: We will advance policies and practices to create vibrant, affordable, diverse, healthy, and environmentally beneficial communities.

Leadership and Civic Engagement

Program Objective:  We will nurture leadership, strengthen organizations, and broaden the coalition to create a more dynamic and powerful constituency for environmental responsibility.
