Heart of America Northwest Research Center works to advance the region’s quality of life through research, public education, and involvement in issues affecting the health, environment, and economy of the Northwest. A $50,000 grant supports ongoing efforts to ensure cleanup at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. $20,000 of the grant is dedicated to the joint strategies of the public interest community concerned with nuclear safety and cleanup at Hanford. A $10,000 grant supports joint activities of public interest groups working to ensure informed citizen participation in scoping hearings conducted by the United States Department of Energy focused on the proposal to restart the Fast Flux Test Facility at Hanford.
