The East Kootenay Environmental Society promotes the maintenance of a healthy environment for all life, and develops strategies for the long-term viability of its communities through conservation and the prevention of pollution. The grant supports a project to promote the adoption of a land-use management plan that will protect critical ecosystems in the Upper Columbia River Basin, as defined through a conservation biology approach.
